Artist Statement

 
We can sometimes live beyond our own lives through the appreciation of art by others. This extension of life, for me,  can be found in those artists who have influenced my work: the feeling of Klimt, the fine detail of Durer, the color of Matisse, and the designs of Escher.

The variety of subject matter in these prints interests me on many levels. A landscape, architecture, flowers, or shapes may be ordinary at first glance but become a fascinating study in interpretation, composition, color and technique. These aesthetic decisions and critical thinking skills are like putting a puzzle together except that one is creating the pieces as the problem is solved.

I enjoy the process of printmaking with a passion and find it very rewarding. I see what I’ve accomplished in this medium thus far and eagerly anticipate in what lies ahead.
